The Dermamelan Mask Treatment

The Dermamelan treatment is a brown mask that is applied by Dr Maurizio Viel, and a home kit that must be applied for the following 3 months.  The mask is worn by the patient for 8 hours and the patient during this time will feel almost nothing whilst the mask is on.  After the mask is cleansed off with cold water, the patient can start applying the home kit cream.

After the mask

The patient will find that the face can be red (almost a sun burnt appearance) and the skin may feel hot and itchy – this is perfectly normal.  The home kit must be applied every evening for the next 3 months and we also recommend using this with the Dr Viel’s X118 Moisturising serum as the skin can be flaky and dry.  The Dermamelan mask is a more gentle approach than other chemicals and laser treatments on the market, that may lead to hyperpigmentation in the future with further exposure to the sun in the UAE.  The Dermamelan mask effectively reduces the appearance of pigmentation, brown spots and melasma.  It is also important during these 3 months that you add a sun block and moisturiser to your daily routine.

Results

In our experience, patients start seeing results after 2 – 4 weeks.  As it is a more gentle and kinder approach to the skin, it will take a bit longer to show than harsher techniques available on the market.

How many treatments

This mask is only required once but Dr Maurizio Viel and Dr Roberto Viel may advise longer use of the home care kit according to the severity of your pigmentation.

How does it work?

Dermamelan influences the pigment producing process.  Some of the ingredients include Kojic acid, Phytic acid, Ascorbic Acid, Titanium Dioxide and Retinyl Palmitate which help block formations of melanin (the cause of the pigmentation) by inhibiting the enzyme required in the pigmentation process.

M.Y. Weekend Peel

M.Y. weekend peel is a newly developed medium depth chemical peel invented by dermatologist and cosmetic skin specialists Dr Marina Landau and Dr Yoram Fintsi. This peel uses a unique chemoabrasive technique enabling rejuvenation of the skin to provide a smoother and more youthful appearance. Once the weekend peel is applied, it then continues to be active on the skin for 72 hours; therefore this peel is an ideal procedure prior to a weekend.  Mixture, slight bruising and swelling may also occur.
