What does the MACS face-lift do?
Lifts and refreshes the lower two-thirds of the face (from the temples to lower neck) by lifting the skin and tightening the muscle banks and the layers of tissue connected to the facial muscle. Only a limited amount of skin needs to be removed, leaving nothing but an inconspicuous scar either inside the ear or in the crease in front of the ear and in the hairline above the ear.
Type of Anaesthetic for this cosmetic surgery?
In contrast to most other facelifts techniques, these can be performed under a light sedation, which is not to be mistaken with general anesthetic. Sedation is a midpoint between local and general.
Length of stay after the MACS Facelift?
Typical 3 -4 hours after the surgery which takes place at our day hospital at the London Centre for Aesthetic Surgery, 15 Harley Street.
What happens during the MACS Facelift?
The cosmetic surgeon, in this case Dr Roberto Viel, will make an S Shaped incision around (or inside) the ear and the into the hairline. Soft tissue and muscle is tightened during the surgery, excess fat and skin are removed and the wound is closed.
How does it feel?
Expect your face to feel swollen, bruised and stiff for a few days.
Scars?
Yes, but the scarring is minimal and hidden behind or inside the ear and in the hairline.
