Botilinum toxin injections better known as Botox, a leading brand from US company, Allergan. There are other brands out there such as Dysport made by French manufacturers, Ipsen.
How does botox work?
Botilinum toxin is a purified protein that blocks the nerve signal from the brain to the nerve endings (that tell you to frown). Injecting botox effectively paralyses the muscles, so wrinkles, lines and furrows don’t have the strength to smooth out.
What is botox good for?
Crow’s feet, forehead lines, lines around the mouth, upper lip lines, neck wrinkles, deep lines in the face and dimpling on chin.
What happens when the botox is injected?
Botox is injected into problematic areas using a very fine needle. You may require several injections depending on the extent of the problem.
How does the botox treatment feel?
You will feel pinpricks but it isn’t really painful.
How long does the botox treatment take?
From ten to twenty minutes.
How long before it heals?
Immediately. You can go straight back to your life. However, we do advise avoid facials and massages for 24 – 48 hours after the treatment which will move the product.
When will I see results of the botox treatment?
Between 3 – 5 days, and the full effect after 2 weeks.
